Great little thunderstorm last night to start the spring weather. The dog was less than impressed by the thunder. It brought a bit of rain with it, but we’re going to need a lot more to make it through summer without burning up. It sounds strange to say I love the rain when the rain... Continue Reading →
This year’s step critters
When I first moved into this house, I noticed a bull snake living underneath my front steps. He was pretty cool--kept mainly to himself and decimated the rodent population. After a few years, he disappeared. This year, it's rabbits. There were three--mama and two babies--but we seem to be down to just one baby now.... Continue Reading →
Simplification
Over time, I collect different technology, domains, websites, social platforms, etc., and eventually have so many that I can't keep track and just abandon everything. So about every five years, I go on a mission to simplify my life. If you got here because you followed a link for 406photos.com, it's because of this year's... Continue Reading →
Migration 2024
I didn't quite nail the timing this year. Got up to Freezout too late to catch the birds leaving in the morning, and couldn't stay long due to work. I'll get 'em next year. I think I just need to take a day off work and hang out up there when the numbers are high.... Continue Reading →

Prints for sale

All prints come from Bay Photo, which is my favorite lab. Their print quality is unmatched. I highly recommend the... Continue Reading →
Mediocre Sunset
Feels weird to call a sunset mediocre, but Montana has spoiled me. I’m not complaining—even a less-than-perfect sunset is better than being stuck in the house.
Chasing Birds
The sunset fizzled, so we chased geese instead.
Winter Things
Playing a little catch up with the winter weather we’ve been having. Finally got to go skiing--might be the only time this year, so we made the most of it. As I'm writing this, it's 50ºF outside, so that might be the end of winter. This is Montana, though, so we could get an epic... Continue Reading →
Sloppy roads, fog, and snow
It was almost 40º when I took the scenic route home today. Lots of slush and mud, a few birds, and a great opportunity for black and white photography.
Snow, Birds, and Sunsets
Trying to get in the habit of going for a drive in the evenings to see what I can see. Sometimes the sunsets fizzle, but it's always great to just get out of the house.
