My buddy Steve mentioned that he was going to run down to the Hardy Creek Bridge area of the canyon to shoot the ice blocks on the Missouri. The weather was perfect, so I headed over there with him.
I’ve driven through this canyon that runs between Great Falls and Helena a million times, and I’ve always been impressed by it. I don’t recall ever stopping to really soak it all in, though. It’s an amazing piece of Montana.
The ice blocks looked like little mini glaciers, and pieces were calving off every few minutes.
The canyon has it’s own project page now, so all past, present, and future photos will live there.
Daniel grew up in central and western Montana. Unsure of what he wanted to do with his life, he studied both graphic design and psychology in college. After a brief stint with Pizza Hut, he landed in Oregon.
He got his first camera, and his first Mac back in 1987, and dove into videography and editing in 1990. He started shooting portraits in 1997, and people continue to be his favorite photo subject. Since moving back to Montana in 2017, he's started exploring landscape, wildlife, and astrophotography.
He currently resides in central Montana with a German shepherd mix named Diego.
